RUMOR - Tuflite leak water.
THE TRUTH - Tuflite cores are the most water resistant in the world! And they don’t off gas! They’re Techlite.
RUMOR - Tuflite are molded.
THE TRUTH - Tuflite blanks are molded the same as any blank in any polyester board only we do it Way BETTER. And we do it Green, with steam!
RUMOR - Tuflite are stiff.
THE TRUTH - Tuflite store more kinetic energy than any other board on the market. The harder you push the more return in kinetic energy you will receive and the faster you will drive off the bottom. Lift some weights!

Tuflite is the product of over 15 years of science focused on one goal; build the toughest, lightest, most responsive boards in the world.
Tuflite has evolved many times in the last 15 years as every major shaper in the world has joined forces with Randy French to help realize the dream of improved performance through technology, so that surfers everywhere will benefit.
As Randy pressed forward toward designing the best possible construction, the shapers that believed in a technically advanced vision jumped on board while continuing to prototype for their new Tuflite models in traditional Polyester and custom Epoxy shops.
Today a Surftech Tuflite board, the product of these great designing minds working together, is the number one selling brand in the world. Surfers world wide have realized that a Tuflite board in their quiver means that they have guaranteed performance, anywhere in the world at any time; shaped by a designer that they know and trust.
A creation of a Tuflite board is a technical, design achievement unrivaled in the surf industry.
How a Tuflite is made:
Step One:
A proven board, tested by the best team riders, built by the best board designers is submitted to become immortalized in Tuflite construction as a trustworthy, performance replication of the original design.
Step Two:
The proven shape by a master designer is taken to Santa Cruz, California, by an armed escort shrouded in secrecy. There at the Surftech headquarters, every last detail of the design is scrutinized and cataloged into a master file so that no matter what happens in the future, we have a reference to the original design and intention. It is an honor to catalog the data from the greatest designers ever to pick up a Skill 100.
Step Three:
The “master” is taken to our ISO certified facility for cloning and replication. The first part of this process is to take the information from the master and build the Techlite fused cores that will be used to build the Clones. In a special proprietary process, we build the waterproof fused core that exactly mimics the exterior dimensions and contours of the Master but is slightly smaller in every dimension. This is a high tolerance, water resistant Techlite blank that is the most advanced core ever built.
Step Four:
After the Techlite blank is built it is hand tuned then hand laminated and vacuum bagged with epoxy and PVC to create an air tight, highly responsive, sandwich composite core.
Step Five:
This new sandwich composite design is then quality checked with rail and rocker templates that were produced directly off the master. This happens in the same way a ghost shaper checks his rail shapes and rocker against the master he is replicating for the shaper he is working for.
Step Six:
Once the board’s rails and rocker are checked for quality against the master with a rocker jig and rail templates, it is hand sanded, faired out, tuned and checked again against the rail templates. Once the board sanding is finished and it passes inspection, it is prepared for graphics.
Step Seven:
Step seven is really pretty cool. The board suspended against a wall of water in a closed system that keeps any of the particulate from entering the atmosphere. Then board can then be freely rotated and touched on all sides without any interference. This is where it is primed and painted.
Step Eight:
After the board is painted it goes to the pin-liners who tape off the pinlines and paint them by hand. These are some of the most skilled pin-liners in the world and they work with amazing accuracy. Every pinline that you see on a Surftech board is painted, one at a time, by hand. When the tape is removed and the pinlines are dry, the board is taken back over to the spray booth and sealed.
The final step:
After the boards are sealed they are polished by hand to ensure that the shine on your new Tuflite is up to the high quality standards that the rest of the board is! It is then inspected for any finishing defects, and shortly thereafter ends up in the water under your feet and on its first wave. The first wave of thousands to come because it is a Tuflite!
