No other system in the world can lay claim to a single ASP World Title in the men's, women's, junior's, or longboard divisions. French

In 1992, Surftech was created to bring new technology to the process of board building. Randy saw that the way surfboards were being created hadn't changed in over 40 years. The old way wasn't very durable, so a lot of boards ended up in landfills and the toxic materials weren't too kind to the environment. He made it his mission to bring revolutionary new construction materials to the world. And thus Tuflite was born.

Mark Richards

MR - "My shaping career began at age 13, when I got an electric planer for Christmas. There was no such thing as Pro Surfing in those days, and if you surfed, the dream career was to work in the surfboard industry". The twin fin surfboard design is a great choice for small to medium sized waves lacking power. It originated in California in the late 1960s, but the true potential of the twin fin was not revealed until Mark Richards (MR as he is known by fans) revolutionized performance shortboard surfing on a twin fin in the late 1970s, winning four straight world championships in the process. MR spent a month working with legendary shaper Dick Brewer on hand shaping technique in Hawaii during the winter of 1976/1977. With the proper technique MR went to work on shaping a reborn version of the twin fin, later named the Free Ride Twin fin. The twin fin surfboard offers increased speed and manoeuvrability while also being more stable than a single fin. This board design also produces a looser board than your trusty thrusters. You will see a twin fin setup on a traditional fish or a more modern shortboard shape. MR believes this board's performance was directly responsible for his competitive surfing success.

Reef

Reef's twenty-five year heritage traces back to two brothers from Argentina, Fernando and Santiago "Santi" Aguerre. Fernando and Santiago knew they had a great product, but they wanted to separate themselves from the other surf companies. Inspired by the notoriously beautiful women of the beaches in South America, the brothers saw an opportunity to introduce the surf market to an exotic element that they called Miss Reef. With the release of Endless summer 2, there was a resurgence of classic longboards in surf culture, which provided a shot in the arm for his legendary shapes. Anderson created a prototype for the "thruster" design and took it on tour with him to Hawaii and California. When he returned to Sydney, he made two more surfboards with similar designs. Using one of those surfboards, he again won the competition at the Bells Beach Classic in 1981 and "surfing history took its biggest turn since polyurethane foam" as the "thruster" design became the most popular fin design for surfboards over the next 30 years.

Takayama

Donald Takayama: "From a humble beginning I taught myself how to shape a surfboard out of necessity. Most everyone at the time shaped their own surfboards in the backyard. In fact it was known as backyard industry for quite some time. Over the years I have had many different experiences and have been pround of being a part of the industry that I have watched grow to global proportions. As small as the network in the surfing industry really is, the impact of the lifestyle created it's own culture, which has branched off into a multitude of the ideas for business and pleasure. I have tried to mix both into what I do. From surfboards and apparel to accessories. I hope that you too will enjoy a great day of surfing and maybe even good surf flick when the day is done."
